Thomas Volk, M.D. attended the University of Essen, Germany and completed his residency at Charité University Medicine, Berlin, Germany. Thomas Volk is a full Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Saarland, Germany, and Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine in Homburg, Germany. He is member of several medical societies, the outcomes research consortium and has published more than 230 research papers. His main interests are related to breath analysis and regional anesthesia. Thomas Volk currently is president for the European Society of Regional Anesthesia.

Professor Dong-Xin Wang is the chair of Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine of Peking University First Hospital and currently supervises more than a dozen graduate students. Prof. Wang is vice president of the Chinese Society of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, executive member of the council of Chinese Research Hospital Association Branch of Anesthesiology, chairman of the Chinese Society of Anesthesiology branch of sleep medicine, and vice-president of Beijing Society of Anesthesiology. Prof. Wang’s scientific research is directed towards prevention of perioperative organ injury and complications, and measures that might improve long-term outcomes after surgery. He has published more than 200 full papers in domestic and foreign journals including the Lancet, Annuals of Surgery, Anesthesiology, and British Journal of Anaesthesia.
