Thomas Volk, M.D. attended the University of Essen, Germany and completed his residency at Charité University Medicine, Berlin, Germany. Thomas Volk is a full Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Saarland, Germany, and Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine and Pain Medicine in Homburg, Germany. He serves on the board of several journals and has published more than 300 research papers. His main interests are related to regional anesthesia, acute pain management and perioperative outcomes. Thomas Volk currently is immediate past president for the European Society of Regional Anesthesia.
