Alparslan Turan, M.D. Associate Director

Alparslan Turan, M.D., attended Gazi University Medical School and completed his residency training at Trakya University Medical School. Dr. Turan is Professor of Anesthesiology at McGovern Medical School, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston), and serves as the inaugural Director of the Center for Outcomes Research within the Institute of Perioperative Medicine. Dr. Turan is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Anesthesia and serves on the editorial boards of multiple leading journals. He is a reviewer for numerous international medical and scientific journals. Throughout his career, he has secured more than $10 million in research funding and has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications. His research focuses on perioperative outcomes, postoperative pain management, regional anesthesia, persistent postsurgical pain, and the design and conduct of large-scale clinical trials aimed at improving surgical patient outcomes.
